Venus Antiqua: Dolní Věstonice is a contemporary sculptural interpretation of one of the most significant Paleolithic figurines — the earliest known ceramic representation of the human body.
The original Venus of Dolní Věstonice, discovered in present-day Czech Republic and dated to approximately 26,000 BCE, is exceptional not only for its age but also for its material. Fired clay places this object at the very beginning of ceramic technology and figurative sculpture.
This brooch is conceived as a small sculptural object worn on the body.
It is not a replica of the archaeological artifact, but an original form inspired by its proportions, surface, and material presence. The form is intentionally restrained, allowing the object’s weight and silhouette to speak without decorative intervention.
Each piece is handcrafted and mounted as a brooch, functioning simultaneously as jewelry and as an autonomous sculptural form.
Materials & Finish
The sculptural form is made using metal elements and polymer material, mounted on a steel brooch clasp.
Available finishes:
-
Gold tone — warm bronze surface
-
Silver tone — white bronze surface
The finishes emphasize the raw, material character of the form rather than ornamental detail.
