NOCTUA ATHENAE — Earrings

Some symbols endure because their meaning is stronger than fashion.

Noctua Athenae — the Owl of Athena — is a Latin name for one of the most recognisable motifs of classical antiquity. The owl was the sacred attribute of Athena, goddess of wisdom and protector of the city of Athens. Known from the legendary Athenian tetradrachm, it became a visual emblem of knowledge, clarity and inner strength.

These earrings are not a reconstruction of a coin. They are a contemporary interpretation of a historical form — preserving the proportions and geometric discipline of the ancient original while existing fully as a modern jewellery object.

Cast in jeweller’s bronze with a cool, silver-toned finish, the elements have a sculptural, restrained surface. Minimalist surgical-steel hooks support the form without competing with it, keeping the composition light and balanced. Nothing is added for decoration alone — the form carries its own meaning.

Each pair is handmade in my studio in short series. This is jewellery for those who value history, symbolism and conscious design over passing trends.
