The Venus Antiqua: Willendorf brooch is a contemporary sculptural interpretation of one of the most significant Paleolithic figurines ever discovered.
The original Venus of Willendorf, found in present-day Austria and dated to approximately 25,000 BCE, belongs to the earliest known representations of the human body. Its form is reduced, deliberate, and timeless — focused entirely on presence rather than likeness.
This brooch is conceived as a small sculptural object worn on the body.
It is not a replica of the archaeological artifact, but an original form inspired by its geometry, mass, and visual rhythm. The figure is intentionally simplified to preserve what defines it most: silhouette, density, and permanence.
Each piece is handmade and mounted as a brooch, allowing the object to function as both adornment and sculptural statement.
Materials & Finish
The form is crafted using sculptural polymer clay and metal elements, mounted on a steel brooch clasp.
The brooch is available in four finishes:
-
Natural — referencing the appearance of archaeological material
-
Gold — warm bronze tones
-
Silver — white bronze
-
Copper — natural copper surface
Each finish emphasizes the sculptural character of the form rather than decorative detail.
