Golden Fly Earrings – A Tribute to Queen Ahhotep I and Ancient Egyptian Valor
These handcrafted earrings feature the iconic golden fly, inspired by the necklace of Queen Ahhotep I. In Ancient Egypt, the fly symbolized resilience and determination. Golden flies were awarded as a medal of honor for extraordinary achievements on the battlefield.
The golden fly represented here was discovered with the mummy of Queen Ahhotep I (also known as Ahhotpe or Ashhotep), the mother of Pharaohs Kamose and Ahmose, whose leadership was instrumental during the 17th Dynasty. Queen Ahhotep’s sarcophagus was uncovered in 1859 at the Dra Abu el-Naga necropolis in Thebes.
